Professional background:Andrea Campbell was elected as the 45th Massachusetts Attorney General in 2022. AG Campbell had served since 2015 on the Boston City Council representing District 4, and in 2018 she was unanimously elected city council president. From 2013 to 2014, she was deputy legal counsel to Governor Deval Patrick. Earlier in her career, she worked in private practice and for a nonprofit that provided free legal services pertaining to education rights and access.

Key priorities as AG include:

• Forming an Elder Justice Unit, to redress unequal access to health care, deceptive business practices, and fraud.
• Pushing for safer, healthier communities by creating an Office of Gun Safety Enforcement to defend common-sense gun laws.
• Ensuring health equity by championing environmental justice to protect against climate change.
• Creating a Reproductive Justice Unit to protect and expand access to safe and legal abortion and reproductive care
• Strengthening regional offices by hiring community engagement staff to partner with advocacy organizations, non-profit and business leaders and other stakeholders in these communities.

Education:  AG Campbell earned a Bachelor of Arts from Princeton University and a J.D. from UCLA School of Law.

Personal: AG Campbell and her husband, Matthew Scheier, have two sons and live in the Mattapan neighborhood of Boston.
