Spotlight: WE HONOR OUR ACTIVE DUTY AND VETERAN STATE AGs

For Veteran’s Day we celebrate our six active duty and veteran attorneys general and thank them for their service.

Arkansas Attorney General Tim Griffin

  • 26 years’ service in U.S. Army Reserve and Judge Advocate General’s Corps, rising to colonel.
  • Awarded Combat Action Badge for service with 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) in Mosul, Iraq, in 2005.
  • Currently serving as Staff Judge Advocate for 81st Readiness Division at Fort Jackson, South Carolina.

Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry

  • Veteran of Desert Storm.
  • Awarded Army Achievement Medal, Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Ribbon, Overseas Training Ribbon.
  • Awarded Louisiana War Cross for 11 years of service in the state’s National Guard.

Maryland Attorney General Anthony Brown

  • Retired colonel, U.S. Army Reserve.
  • Three decades as an aviator and member of the Judge Advocate General’s Corp.
  • Awarded the Legion of Merit for distinguished military service.
  • Earned Bronze Star while deployed to Iraq in 2004-5.

Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey

  • Deployed twice in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
  • Awarded two Army Achievement Medals, an Army Commendation Medal, a Combat Action Badge, and two Bronze Stars.

Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond

  • As a U.S. Air Force jet pilot during the Persian Gulf War, led the first combat mission.
  • Earned Distinguished Flying Cross for extraordinary achievement.
  • Awarded three Air Medals and four Aerial Achievement Medals.

South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson

  • Served in Iraq; earned Combat Action Badge.
  • As a lieutenant colonel in the Judge Advocate General’s Corps, provides legal support for soldiers and assists in the prosecution of military crimes.
