AG Open Seat Races (12)

  • Colorado: Phil Weiser (D) has won the AG open seat race over George Brauchler (R) and William Robertson (L) by a margin of 50% to 47% to 3.0% with 100% of precincts reporting.
  • Connecticut: State Representative William Tong (D) has won the AG open seat race over Sue Hatfield (R) and Peter Goselin (G) by a margin of 52.3% to 46.6% to 1.1% with 100% of precincts reporting.
  • Delaware: Kathy Jennings (D) has won the AG open seat race over Bernard Pepukayi (R) by a margin of 61.3% to 38.7% with 100% of precincts reporting.
  • Florida: Ashley Moody (R) has won the AG open seat race over State Representative Sean Shaw (D) and Jeffrey Marc Siskind (no party affiliation) by a margin of 52.2% to 46% to 1.8% with 100% of precincts reporting.
  • Illinois: State Senator Kwame Raoul (D) has won the Illinois AG open seat race over Erika Harold (R) and Bubba Harsy (L) by a margin of 54.1% to 43.3% to 2.5% with 100% of precincts reporting.
  • Michigan: Dana Nessel (D) has won the AG open seat race over Speaker Tom Leonard (R), Lisa Lane Gioia (L), Christopher Graveline (I), and Gerald Van Sickle (U.S.T. Party) by a margin of 49% to 46.3% to 2.1% to 1.7% to .9% with 100% of precincts reporting.
  • Minnesota: U.S. Congressman Keith Ellison (D) has won the AG open seat race over Doug Wardlow (R) and Noah Johnson (G) by a margin of 49.1% to 45.2% to 5.7% with 100% of precincts reporting.
  • Nevada: State Senate Majority Leader Aaron Ford (D) has won the AG open seat race over Wes Duncan (R) and Joel Hansen (I) by a margin of 47.2% to 46.8% to 3.3% with 100% of precincts reporting.
  • New York: Public Advocate for the City of New York Letitia James (D) has won the AG open seat race over Keith Wofford (R) and several third party candidates with 61.9% of the vote with 100% of precincts reporting.
  • Ohio: State Auditor Dave Yost (R) has won the AG open seat race over Steve Dettelbach (D) by a margin of 52.4% to 47.6% with 100% of precincts reporting.
  • Rhode Island: Peter Neronha (D) has won the AG open seat race over Alan Gordon (Compassion Party) by a margin of 80.7% to 19.3% with 100% of precincts reporting.
  • South Dakota: Jason Ravnsborg (R) has won the AG open seat race over Randy Seiler (D) by a margin of 55.2% to 44.8% with 100% of precincts reporting.

AG Incumbent Races (19)

  • Alabama: Incumbent AG Steve Marshall (R) has won the AG race over Joseph Siegelman (D) by a margin of 58.9% to 41.1% with 100% of precincts reporting.
  • Arizona: Incumbent AG Mark Brnovich (R) has won the AG race over January Contreras (D) by a margin of 53.4% to 46.6% with 100% of precincts reporting.
  • Arkansas: Incumbent AG Leslie Rutledge (R) has won the AG race over Mike Lee (D) and Kerry Hicks (L) by a margin of 61.8% to 35.4% to 2.8% with 100% of precincts reporting.
  • California: Incumbent AG Xavier Becerra (D) has won the AG race over Steven Bailey (R) by a margin of 60.7% to 39.3% with 100% of precincts reporting.
  • District of Columbia: Incumbent AG Karl Racine (D) has won the AG race over Joe Henchman (L) by a margin of 93.3% to 6.7% with 100% of precincts reporting.
  • Georgia: Incumbent AG Chris Carr (R) has won the AG race over Charlie Bailey (D) by a margin of 51.4% to 48.6% with 100% of precincts reporting.
  • Idaho: Incumbent AG Lawrence Wasden (R) has won the AG race over Bruce Bistline (D) by a margin of 65.6% to 34.4% with 100% of precincts reporting.
  • Iowa: Incumbent AG Tom Miller (D) has won the AG race over Marco Battaglia (L) by a margin of 77.0% to 23.0% with 100% of precincts reporting.
  • Kansas: Incumbent AG Derek Schmidt (R) has won the AG race over Sarah Swain (D) by a margin of 59.3% to 40.7% with 100% of precincts reporting.
  • Maryland: Incumbent AG Brian Frosh (D) has won the AG race over Craig Wolf (R) by a margin of 64.1% to 35.9% with 100% of precincts reporting.
  • Massachusetts: Incumbent AG Maura Healey (D) has won the AG race over Jay McMahon (R) by a margin of 69.9% to 30.1% with 100% of precincts reporting.
  • Nebraska: Incumbent AG Doug Peterson (R) has won the AG race unopposed.
  • New Mexico: Incumbent AG Hector Balderas (D) has won the AG race over Michael Hendricks (R) and A. Blair Dunn (L) by a margin of 61.6% to 33.7% to 4.8% with 100% of precincts reporting.
  • North Dakota: Incumbent AG Wayne Stenehjem (R) has won the AG race over David Clark Thompson (D) by a margin of 67.7% to 32.3% with 100% of precincts reporting.
  • Oklahoma: Incumbent AG Mike Hunter (R) has won the AG race over Mark Myles (D) by a margin of 64.0% to 36.0% with 100% of precincts reporting.
  • South Carolina: Incumbent AG Alan Wilson (R) has won the AG race over Constance Anastopoulo (D) by a margin of 55.1% to 44.9% with 100% of precincts reporting.
  • Texas: Incumbent AG Ken Paxton (R) has won the AG race over Justin Nelson (D) and Michael Ray Harris (L) by a margin of 50.6% to 47.0% to 2.1% with 100% of precincts reporting.
  • Vermont: Incumbent AG T.J. Donovan (D) has won the AG race over Janssen Willhoit (R) and Rosemarie Jackowski (Liberty Union) by a margin of 70.1% to 26.3% to 3.6% with 100% of precincts reporting.
  • Wisconsin: Josh Kaul (D) has won the AG race over incumbent AG Brad Schimel (R) by a margin of 49.5% to 48.7% with 100% of precincts reporting.

AGs Running for Higher Office 

Governor

  • Michigan: AG Bill Schuette (R) has lost the race for Governor to Gretchen Whitmer (D).
  • Maine: AG Janet Mills (D) has won the Maine Governor’s race over Shawn Moody (R). The next Maine AG will be elected by the state legislature.
  • Nevada: AG Adam Laxalt (R) has lost the race for Governor to Steve Sisolak (D).
  • Ohio: AG Mike DeWine (R) has won the race for Governor over former Ohio AG Richard Cordray (D).
  • Oklahoma: Former AG Drew Edmondson (D) has lost the race for Governor to Kevin Stitt (R).

 U.S. Senate

  • Missouri: AG Josh Hawley (R) has won the U.S. Senate seat race over incumbent Senator Claire McCaskill (D). Governor Mike Parson (R) will appoint the next AG to fill the remainder of AG Hawley’s term.
  • West Virginia: AG Patrick Morrisey (R) has lost the U.S. Senate seat race to incumbent Senator Joe Manchin (D). AG Morrisey will remain as AG until his term expires in 2020.

Other Races that Appoint/Elect AGs 

  • Alaska: In Alaska, where the Governor appoints the AG, Mike Dunleavy (R) has won.
  • Maine: In Maine, where the legislature elects the AG every two years, Democrats gained control over both chambers of the state legislature. Current AG Janet Mills (D) won the race for Governor.
  • New Hampshire: In New Hampshire, where the Governor appoints the AG to a 4-year term, incumbent Chris Sununu (R) was re-elected. The term of current AG Gordon MacDonald (R) ends in 2020.
  • Wyoming: In Wyoming, where the Governor appoints the AG, the election of Mark Gordon (R) indicates the AG office likely will remain in Republican control.
