Attorneys General Appointment and Election News

  • North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum appointed former U.S. Attorney and Lieutenant Governor Drew Wrigley as AG following AG Wayne Stenehjem’s sudden passing in January 2022. AG Wrigley will serve out the remainder of the current term, which ends on December 31, 2022.
  • New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy nominated Matthew Platkin, his former chief counsel, to serve as AG, subject to confirmation by the State Senate. Platkin will succeed acting AG Andrew Bruck, who helmed the office after AG Gurbir Grewal resigned to join the SEC.
  • Las Vegas private practice attorney Tisha Black announced her candidacy for the Republican nomination in the 2022 race for Nevada AG. Las Vegas private practice attorney Sigal Chattah is also running on the Republican side. Incumbent Democratic AG Aaron Ford is seeking reelection for his second term.
  • Former Assistant AG Quentin Palfrey announced his candidacy for the Democratic nomination in the 2022 open-seat race for Massachusetts AG. As previously reported, former Boston city councilor Andrea Campbelland workers’ rights lawyer Shannon Liss-Riordan are also running for the Democratic nomination. Incumbent AG Maura Healey is not running for reelection and is seeking the Massachusetts governorship instead.
