Professional background: Marty Jackley was elected as South Dakota’s 33rd Attorney General in 2022. He previously served as the 30th attorney general from 2009, standing down in 2019 when he reached term limits. From 2006 to 2009, AG Jackley served as United States Attorney for the District of South Dakota. Prior to that, AG Jackley was in private practice and also prosecuted controlled substance felonies as a special assistant attorney general for South Dakota.

Key priorities for his term include:

• Partnering with local law enforcement to promote public safety.
• Combatting workforce shortages and labor trafficking crimes.
• Addressing consumer scams and efforts by bad actors to take advantage of vulnerable populations.

Education:  AG Jackley graduated cum laude from the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology with a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering. He earned his J.D. from the University of South Dakota School of Law.

Personal: AG Jackley lives in Pierre, South Dakota and he has two children. He also enjoys spending family time at his farm in Vale, South Dakota.
