Spotlight: West Virginia Attorney General J.B. McCuskey

Professional background: Prior to his election as AG, J.B McCuskey was state auditor of West Virginia, prior to which he was a member of the West Virginia House of Delegates representing District 35 from 2013 to 2017, where he prioritized issues such as job creation, energy independence, and financial responsibility in governance. His career as a civil servant began in a civilian role at the Pentagon in the general counsel offices of the Army and the Department of Defense.

Key priorities for his first term include:

  • Making West Virginia’s streets safer and providing law enforcement with the resources and support they need to pursue criminals and bring them to justice.
  • Ensuring government transparency and fighting corruption.
  • Investing in energy independence for West Virginia and fighting against burdensome agricultural regulations.
