- Indiana AG Todd Rokita filed a lawsuit against 22 chemical manufacturers for alleged violations of state consumer protection laws and for allegedly creating a public nuisance, among other allegations, related to contamination caused by per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS).
- According to the complaint, the companies allegedly knew of the harms to the environment and human health caused by PFAS but intentionally concealed those harms for financial gain. The complaint relates to PFAS contamination from sources including foam used in firefighting, chemicals used in manufacturing that are added to products—such as cookware and clothing to make them resistant to stains, water, and heat—and industrial facilities.
- The lawsuit seeks declaratory and injunctive relief, damages, abatement, restitution, disgorgement, civil penalties, and costs and fees, among other relief.
