Senior Iowa AG Staff Assume New Roles; New Hampshire AG Launches New Data Privacy Unit

  • Iowa AG Brenna Bird has announced the promotions of three senior staff members. Ed Bull, previously Chief of the Health and Human Services Section, has been appointed Deputy Attorney General for Agency Counsel. Jeff Peterzalek, formerly Chief of the Office’s Administrative Law Section, will now serve as Deputy Attorney General for Civil Litigation. Ian McConeghey, who was an Assistant Attorney General in the Civil Litigation Division, has taken on the role of Prosecuting Attorneys Training Coordinator.
  • New Hampshire AG John Formella announced the creation of a new Data Privacy Unit within the office’s Consumer Protection and Antitrust Bureau.  The unit will be responsible for enforcing the New Hampshire Data Privacy Act, which takes effect January 1, 2025.  The Act grants consumers the right to confirm whether a business is controlling or processing their personal data, correct any inaccuracies, request the deletion of personal information, and opt out of future data processing for targeted advertising, sales, or profiling, among other things.
  • The unit plans to develop a series of FAQs that will assist consumers and businesses in understanding their rights and responsibilities under the Act.
