- A group of 22 Democratic AGs submitted comments opposing the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’s (CMS) Proposed Rule, which would change enrollment, eligibility, and coverage under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA).
- In their comments, the AGs urge CMS to withdraw the Proposed Rule, contending that the contemplated changes—which include forcing state ACA exchanges to shorten open enrollment periods, eliminating special enrollment for low-income people, imposing additional enrollment verification, and allowing coverage denial to people with past-due premiums, among other things—are not supported by evidence, are not reasonably explained, and ignore substantial reliance interests.
- The AGs urge that the Proposed Rule’s changes be withdrawn.
